Mission: Not All Orders Are Easy
Location: USS Washington

Shran was on the bridge orbited the planet. Deanna and Janelle had returned with Darkwa and already begun a full debrief of the man and his team, leaving Paquin in the care of Sam due to her condition. The Ferengi situation had also be handled, partially due to the away team, and partially due to Shran informing the Ferengi daimon that if they didn't remove themselves from Federation space, he'd send everyone aboard that ship to the Divine Treasury. It had been a bit of hyperbole but raised voices and the look of an angry Andorian ensured the Ferengi vacated promptly.

Sam had notified him that she had cleared Jon to return to duty and they were heading up to the bridge. He looked forward to speaking with them both considering the situation they were in with Darkwa and his team.

After being cleared by Sam, Jon walked alongside her to see Shran. He was suffering no aftereffects after being shot but it was still an unpleasant experience.

"One of these days - wouldn't it be nice to have a quiet mission?" Sam smiled ruefully as they walked down the corridor towards the turbolift. They'd both been through the wringer - again. Something that seemed to be more common than not these days.

"I couldn't agree more Sam. A nice quiet mission sounds like a dream at this point," Jon replied with a smile. "At least it is something to wish for."

Shran was at the rear of the bridge by the tactical station when Jon and Sam arrived. The Andorian took note of their arrival, quickly completed his conversation with Ayana, and then walked towards his officers. "My Ready Room" he said in an even tone. "L'Rissa, you have the bridge."

Sam nodded and followed the captain, dropping into her usual chair once the doors had slid closed behind them. She waited for the captain to start.

Jon gave a quick, crisp nod and turned to follow the captain and Sam into the Ready Room. Once inside, Jon moved and sat in his customary seat which was to the right of the captain's seat.

"So, another eventful few days. You'd have to think some sort of malevolent deity playing tricks on us." The Andorian turned and looked to Jon, "Those Ferengi were quite the surprise. You feel alright?"

"Feeling fine sir, thanks to Sam and her expert ministrations." Jon replied with a grin. "As for the Ferengi, yes quite the surprise. I owe them a surprise or two."

"Well, I'll be sure to pass that note along to them the next time they show up. Thankfully Imik handled them, and Deanna has retrieved our wayward anthropologists. We are dealing with the clean up as we speak" Shran replied. He looked to Sam, "Which reminds me doctor, how is Dr. Paquin?"

Jon nodded, "Yes sir, please pass it along. I'd be so grateful if you did." Jon answered with a smile. "Though I am glad Imik was able to take care of them."

"She is still around midterm pregnancy. They both appear to be as well as can be expected for the conditions they were in" Sam explained simply, with a caring expression. "The issue is how she became pregnant on an anthropological survey mission."

"The have committed several severe breaches of the Prime Directive Sam. Deanna says you were confirming that she got pregnant with a local. She is apparently coupled with a local farmer." Shran bristled just a bit. "These people...the Prime Directive exists for a reason, and Dr. Darkwa and his team are StarFleet, they knew the rules before they came here. They are also scientists, they know how much damage interacting with a primitive culture can cause."

"Makes it twice as bad sir." Jon spoke. "They should all be court martialed, kicked out of Starfleet and their credentials revoked."

"And all of that may come to pass, but that will be up to Command. The main thing is that we've got them in custody and the blind has been destroyed to avoid it being a contaminant to the people." Shran let out a calming breath, "I believe we have everything we need here. If you are fit Jon, put us back on course for Starbase 214."

"I'm fit sir." he assured Shran before tapping his comm badge, "L'Rissa, set course for Starbase 214, warp 4 if you please."

"It's such a shame, really it is. I know the best way to study a culture is to be immersed in it, but rules and regs exist for a reason." Sam sighed, before looking towards the captain.

"Anything else Sir?"

"Make sure Paquin is fit for transport when we reach the starbase. We'll be turning them all over to the starbase JAG." He looked to Jon, "Take the bridge Jon. I'm going to check on Deanna, see how the debrief is going."

"Yes sir." Jon replied rising from his chair. "I have the bridge." He replied formally.

Shran stood and they all exited his Ready Room. He looked over to Ops, "Lt Ibarra, get those probes launched and synched up. We are getting underway. Inform Lt Senn and Lt Phlox once they are prepared."

"Probes are launched sir. Receiving data, and I will inform Lt Senn" Ibarra replied.

"Very good" the Andorian said as he headed up to the turbolift with Sam, while Jon moved over to the command station. This had been something it wasn't meant to be. Shran was concerned. The Prime Directive existed for a reason, and for a group of officers, scientists or not to brazenly violate it was not something encountered often. He only hoped the damage was minimized at this point.
