Chief Petty Officer Geiger, Aaron R - Personal Log
"We have returned from the Klingon ship, all present and accounted for. She's as good as we can get her outside of time in drydock. It is interesting seeing the Engineering philosophy behind Klingon design as compared to Federation."
"Federation design tends to assume every system will fail, then includes redundant and tertiary components to compensate. The Klingons seem to try and predict specific problems and plan for those specific contingencies, which in my opinion creates some blindspots. Hopefully we helped introduce some more outside the box thinking over there."
"Speaking of relations, I either made a friend or really pissed off that young woman. Miral is bright, has an intuitive grasp of the Engineering mindset. If she survives she'll do well. I had very strong flashbacks of other junior officers, albeit in a rougher packaging."
"Kapowski did well over there, she even kept me on task and not in lecture mode as I am wont to do. I'll talk to the CHENG and tell him she's ready to shadow him more, maybe start going with him to the senior staff meetings to see how he interacts with the Skipper and XO. If anything happens she's probably next in line to act in his stead. We always need more leaders."
"Anyway I'd better get back down to the office. I'm sure something has broken by now. Computer - cease recording."
