Mission: Wounds From the Mirror
Location: Gym
Timeline: Current

Jon was dressed in red shorts and a grey t-shirt and sneakers as he waited for Callie to show up. He wanted to get started on her personal defense training, even if her senses weren't quite up to par yet. They would do that here in the gym and as she progressed they would go to the holodeck.

He was glad to see Callie eager to expand her training. He just hoped she didn't discouraged or worse get mad at him if she thought he was being hard on her. She had a temper when she got worked up. Luckily it took a lot to provoke her.

Arriving at the gym Callie wasn’t entirely sure what to expect for this round of training, whether Jon would go easy on her or whether he’d be pushing her from the start. No doubt she would soon find out. “I haven’t kept you waiting too long have I?”

Jon grinned at her, "You haven't kept me waiting at all darling." Jon assured her. "Are you ready to begin your training? I thought we could start with the basics and work our way up." He explained.

Callie nodded. “I’m as ready as I’ll ever be. Just don’t go too hard on me first time out okay?”

"Callie, relax, I am not going to go too hard on you. We're going to work on knowing the moves and what moves to make. I'm certainly not going to hurt my wife." Jon answered with what he hoped was a convincing smile.

“I know you wouldn’t” Callie grinned. “So let’s get started.”

Jon nodded, "I know you received basic self defense, so why don't we start there? I'll come at you and you defend yourself. the best you can."

Callie nodded. “I warm you I was good at basic training, not that I got the best score in the end.” She stood ready waiting to see how Jon would attack.

"Thank you love, I appreciate your concern." Jon answered as he slowly closed on Callie, silently appraising her and her stance.

Callie kept her eyes on Jon at all times, waiting for the first sign of his planned attack. She kept facing him at all times, not letting him get behind her.

Jon smiled at Callie, she was doing a good job of defending herself just be facing him directly. He decided to see what else she knew. He gave a feint to the left by dipping his shoulder and moving his hand before at the last second he pivoted to the right and had her hands pinned behind her back and his other across her neck.

Callie didn’t have her hands to use, but she did have her feet as she tried shifting her weight to throw Jon off balance before raising her one foot and stamping on his foot.

"Owwwwwwww!" Jon yelled but didn't let go of Callie. Instead he spun her around and still holding her hands he kissed her quickly, A boyish grin on his face.

“Hey! That’s not fair Commander” Callie gave Jon a playful telling off, before giving his foot another more gentle stamp.

"All is fair in love and war love." Jon playfully bantered as he still held Callie's hands. "That was a good move by the way. Well done."

Callie smiled. “Does that mean I can have my hands back now?” She gave a tug but he was still holding onto her. “Either that or give me a hint what I’m supposed to do.”

"What? Oh yeah sorry." Jon answered with a blush, releasing Callie's hands and came back around in front of her. "Let's see how you do with attacking me."

Callie grinned. “Sounds good to me” she readied herself studying his posture, before suddenly lunging to his left before rapidly switching to his right, grabbing his leg she aimed to force him off balance.

Jon watched Callie as she made her attack. She feinted to the left before suddenly moving back to the right to grab his leg. He pivoted quickly and grabbed her around the waist to lift her up and then deposit her on the gym mats...none to gently.

"You were slow Callie, your eyes gave you away before your moves did." Jon pointed out as he stood over her, reaching a hand out to help her up.

“I guess I should have thought about that” Callie took hold of Jon’s hand accepting the help up off the mat. “So what do you suggest would have been a good method of attack?”

"Direct is good but feint with you shoulders and not your head. that way you keep your point of attack secret until you are ready to implement it." Jon replied with a smile, "Oh, get your hands up as well, ready to grab and lock onto something." Jon suggested.

Callie nodded. “Wouldn’t that leave my hands and arms open to direct attack? A broken arm or wrist could severely hinder putting up a fight.”

"That is a good point and observation Callie and yes it would leave your hands and arms open to an attack which is why you want to be fully trained to prevent someone from attempting to do just that. Of course you could just stomp your attacker's foot or kick them." He grinned at her. "Both are equally effective."

“I’ll bear that in mind” Callie grinned a wry grin as she gave his legs a quick Look.

"I have no doubt you will." Jon replied with a grin and moved further away from Callie and her deadly feet.

“So shall we try this again?” She gave Jon a wry smile.

"Absolutely sweetie, hit me with your best shot." Jon grinned at the love of his life as he got into position to see what Callie would come up with next. He had no doubt it would be as unique and special as she was and that alone was enough to keep him on his toes and alert.
