Initial Assessment

Mission: Wounds From the Mirror
Location: Captain's Ready Room

Shran had remained in his Ready Room for the last 10 minutes since speaking with Jon over the comm. He had continued to review the information sent by the admiral, and the information was disturbing. He knew that they were going into a trap, but it was a snare they had to engage if they wished to gain the advantage.

The door chimed and he spoke for the door to open, the requested officers entering. As the door closed, he looked at the three officers in silence, a stern and somewhat grim look on his face. "I have been speaking with Admiral Carroll. We have been given a priority assignment. I wished to discuss it with the three of you before a deeper briefing with others occurs. Jon, we will be resuming the black op I was on a few months ago in which you and Deanna came looking for me. The Mirror Universe counterpart of mine has been located, along with several comrades. I have asked Lt Phoenix here to join us here as he directly knows one of these people, perhaps two. Deanna as well knows a person involved in this situation. It should be noted that we have a hostage situation we are going to have to deal with. I can't say for certain, but we may have an entire starship captured and being held, the USS Saber."

"Katherine Parker's ship" Deanna murmured.

Shran nodded. "She was sent to investigate, something happened, and we now need to make our way to Epsilon Canaris III."

"Of course sir." Jon answered simply yet his mind was already working on different plans especially if the captain was right and they were dealing with a hostage situation. He looked at Shran, "If your mirror is involved sir, it would explain him being able to take hostages or even a starship."

Phoenix had been quiet ever since he entered the ready room. He normally would have been more surprised, but he knew that this day would be inevitable ever since Mirror Shran and Mirror Ashlynn's escape. Something else caught him off guard, however.

James raised an eyebrow. Was the Ash he knew actually alive? "Captain if I may, what do you mean by perhaps two?"

"Captain Parker had an intelligence operative aboard her ship, your friend Ashlynn. I assumed you remember her. Her Mirror Universe counterpart was the one aboard this ship that ultimately assisted in the escape of my Mirror counterpart. It is believed both will be encountered in some way when we arrive at our destination" Shran replied.

"Are we going into a black ops protocol?" questioned Deanna.

"Not at this time, but we will limit information to a need-to-know basis. I want to brief several of the senior officers regarding this situation in an hour." Shran looked to Jon, "I hope Inara didn't cause too much fuss having the scientific expedition cut short."

"Can't be helped sir. This situation takes priority and even Inara can appreciate that...hopefully." He added,

James shook his head. He kept a level head. There would be time for processing this later. "I had my hunches but there wasn't much evidence she was alive besides her mirror counterpart. Anytime I tried looking for her I would be met with security blocks saying that information regarding her was classified. Perhaps because she was an intelligence operative. Or even because of both of our circumstances as to being here, but" he stopped himself.

"What do you need from me and the rest of security sir?" James asked.

"What is needed from security will be discussed at the larger meeting. I'll see what Imik thinks once information is divulged. I wanted you here now lieutenant because of the personal connection you have. You know Ashlynn, with luck you can provide insight into both. It is similar to why I asked Deanna here, as she know Capt Parker from our time working in intelligence" Shran replied simply. "Jon, put us on course for Epsilon Canaris III, warp 8. I want all of you, along with Imik, Sam, Callie, Kate, and Cmdr Smith to all meet to discuss this mission in one hour in the conference room."

"Aye sir." Jon answered crisply and tapped his comm badge. "L'Rissa, set course for Epsilon Canaris III warp eight and engage."

"Aye Captain" he said simply. James was anxious. For one thing he now had confirmation Ash was actually alive. But because of this and the fact that her counterpart was at large, he was concerned if he'd become too emotionally compromised. He'd do everything he could to prevent that, and he was often resilient, but that didn't diminish the concern at all.

"Very well gentlemen, well speak again in an hour. Dismissed" Shran replied as the ship left orbit of the planet it had been orbiting and jumped to warp.
