Imik made her way to Jon's ready room to give her results about the shuttle fleet, apart from two type 11's she almost had a full compliment. If she could get those two shuttles then her passenger capability would be 116, right now she only had 104. But imik was missing one piece of information, just what was the total number of family members on board? As she arrived that thought played on her mind, pressing the chime she waited to be called in.
Sitting in his ready room, Jon was going over some last minute details when his door chime buzzed. Pushing the PaDDs to one side he called out "Enter!" and then waited to see who came through the door.
Giving a quick bow as she entered, imik placed her PaDD on the chair. "Blessings on you house and vessel Commander." She picked up her PaDD and stood waiting for Jon to give permission to sit, both Federation and Ojnas miitiery protocols were pretty similar in that respect.
"Blessings on you and your house Imik an please have a seat." Jon replied as he waited for Imik to sit down. Once she had he asked, "So, what can I help you with?"
Imik sat down and placed her PaDD in front of Jon, "I have checked all available shuttles and found seating for 104 persons, if repairs can be hastened we can increase that to 116. My only problem is I have no numbers to work to, I was hoping that you might be able to assist in that regard Commander."
Jon nodded in approval at Imik's statement. "That is excellent work Imik and yes the repairs will be finished in time to get you to 116. As for the workers to work to, I can help you with that."
Nodding as Jon spoke, Imik then looked at him. "We have limited ability in keeping families together, so using more shuttles than is needed may come about if we want to achieve that target." Scrolling her PaDD Imik now arrived at crews for the shuttles, "With both crew and assistants we may require about 50 people to fly and care for the younglings, I think Commander Raven-Grayson should organise that part. She is both a mother and a senior Officer, so best placed to pick the correct people needed." Finishing her report she now waited for Jon's response, ultimately he would have the final say in this operation.
Jon nodded as he was scrolling through the Washington personnel files. After a few seconds he stopped and looked across the desk at her. "The number is 27 between wives and kids. So taking some extra shuttles is a good idea. You also have your security detachment to add in. and pilots. I think Callie will be perfect to organize keeping the families together along with getting personnel to pilot the shuttles."
Now that she had numbers to work with, Imik did a quick calculation. "I suggest we use 4 type 11's as they have a crew of four and 5 type 8's, that way we should have spare capacity and be able to keep families together. That will leave Washington with 1 type 8, 6 type 9's and the Captains yacht for our own evacuation if needed." She checked if Jon was keeping up, "That means all repairs on all shuttles must be complete as soon as possible, of course we still retain the escape pods but we are dealing with shuttles." Placing her PaDD down Imik now looked back at Jon for conformation or rejection, using that many shuttles would leave the ship bereft of vital shuttles in cases of emergency. The onus now rested on Jon, would he could he sanction this plan?
Jon listed as Imik gave him her recommendation. He ran the numbers swiftly through his head and after a moment gave a nod of approval. "Do it. We'll still have seven shuttles and the Captain's yacht along with the escape pods if we need them. This is about keeping the families safe and together. Though if we come to evacing the ship, the pods will probably be the first choice as the shuttles take to long to prep and time is the one luxury we won't have dealing with the Romulans." Jon leaned back in his chair, "Anything else on your mind?"
"Only one more item Commander, to what location are we sending these people and for how long? I simply ask because of the food and water requirements, the replicators will need programming with special requirements for the younglings." On her PaDD a line of script flashed highlighting this final condition, nothing could go wrong with this move of the families and as Security Officer Imik was making sure her part was fully correct.
"A fair and important question." Jon replied, "As to where the civilians are going it Lonar 3 and M class world, mostly tropical with some jungles as well as beaches. As for how long. hard to give an exact answer but at least three to four, i would think."
Placing the information into her PaDD Imik now stood up, "Thank you for your assistance Commander, now if it pleases you I must finish preparing this vessel for the upcoming mission. Do you have anything you wish to impart to me before I depart?"
For a moment Jon said nothing, his eyes just held Imik in their gaze then he spoke. "Stay safe, keep your head and I'll see you here for milkshakes."
A smile crossed Imik's face as she bowed, "Live life and enjoy health, and please remember. I enjoy a colourful outlook, so I indulge in Chocolate milkshakes." She giggled as she rose, "I have no intention of scumming to either Klingon or Romulan, so please stay safe yourself." Turning to leave she thought about how she felt on day one, how distant it seemed but what a journey they had all been on since then.
